The unknown Prague island

The small and almost unknown Křižovnický Island under the Charles Bridge hides the remnants of the former Judith Bridge.

Křižovnický Island is an island that even many locals don't know about. It is very small and tucked away directly under the Charles Bridge. The island begins under a pillar that holds the old town bridge tower and continues in the direction downstream.

On the island to this day we find one of the pillars of the former Judith Bridge. It is built into the grandmaster building of the Křižovnicky Cloister, which straddles the flowing arm of the Vltava River.

The already small Křižovnický Island was reduced even further during modifications to Křižovnický Square in the 19th century. Nearby is another small island, which doesn't even have a name. It lies between the second arch of the Charles Bridge and the Novotny Footbridge, where there is a boat rental and a terrace restaurant.
